Don’t reveal your real e-mail! Get a temporary e-mail
written on May.11, 2007
While living more online and uninstalled, you have to register at more and more websites. I suggest you get two e-mail addresses, one that you use for registering at sites, mailinglists, forums and so on. This will probably end up on in a spamdatabase in the end antway. Then get annother one for personal e-mails.
One suggestion could be to use the bugmenot.com, mytrashmail.com or spambox online services. They offer you to get a temporary e-mail address – completely free and no registration required. Just enter the e-mail address of your choice and it will show you the e-mails send to that address. Perfect for temporary e-mails and you don’t really care about the privacy – you just want that e-mail without giving out your real one or register for a new e-mail account.

Or just use gmail and for yourname@gmail.com you will also be able to give out yourname+somemailinglist@gmail.com and get the mail, allowing you to filter out spam-ridden addresses and not only cheaply make temporary addresses, but never even need to “create” them in the first place, just use them!

I couldn’t live without gishpuppy.com. It lets me create an address for any site which I can disable at any time. It’s easy to use via a great Firefox plug in that let’s you right-click on any email field to create a new address or bring up the one you already created.

One wrinkle that you might want to employ with the gmail plus solution, it to create some random numbers. Put those random number in your gmail filters (i.e., +kfrg2956 is allowed to pass thru). They can’t be guessable, but it allows you to put an element of preauthorization on the inbound email. Unfortunately, many websites don’t support the plus sign syntax. You can also use temporary bloglines email address for throwaways. Yahoo has a similar strategy but no plus sign. There are more and more solutions to spam everyday. So, I think there are a lot ne’er-do-wells that are going to have to find gainful employment soon. Does any one ever buy anything from spam?

This may not be the best place to inquire about this, but I am searching for a pest control company in the pittsburgh area and have no way to find out who is the most effective. I located this business that is really close to me and wanted to see if any one has any testimonials on them. Spectrum Pest Control, 3058 West Liberty Avenue, Dormont, PA 15216 – (412) 446-2802
