One wrinkle that you might want to employ with the gmail plus solution, it to create some random numbers. Put those random number in your gmail filters (i.e., +kfrg2956 is allowed to pass thru). They can't be guessable, but it allows you to put an element of preauthorization on the inbound email. Unfortunately, many websites don't support the plus sign syntax. You can also use temporary bloglines email address for throwaways. Yahoo has a similar strategy but no plus sign. There are more and more solutions to spam everyday. So, I think there are a lot ne'er-do-wells that are going to have to find gainful employment soon. Does any one ever buy anything from spam?

I couldn't live without gishpuppy.com. It lets me create an address for any site which I can disable at any time. It's easy to use via a great Firefox plug in that let's you right-click on any email field to create a new address or bring up the one you already created.

Or just use gmail and for yourname@gmail.com you will also be able to give out yourname+somemailinglist@gmail.com and get the mail, allowing you to filter out spam-ridden addresses and not only cheaply make temporary addresses, but never even need to "create" them in the first place, just use them!
