Google has merged Writely and Spreadsheets. Both URLS redirect you to http://docs.google.com. The document interface now matches the spreadsheet interface.

I’ve just completed a beta version of a desktop toolbar
for a user to have Google’s SpreadSheets and Google’s
Writely quickly available while having a primary desktop application or a web browser current being viewed together in a single viewing.
