In reply to your reply of my Digg post (http://www.digg.com/linux_unix/Miniature_linux_web_pc_perfect_for_surfing_the_net)
My brief MicroClient Jr. Review
------------------------

Pros:
-Cheap price
-Quality construction
-Silent
-Tiny
-Low power draw
-USB 2.0

Cons:
-Loooong delivery time (about 6 weeks)
-Not as fast as I'd hoped
-Graphics chip doesn't seem to be widescreen-friendly (possibly PEBKAC)

Comments: There are a few other cons, but I believe those are more software-specific. I'm using Puppy Linux v2.11, and I'm an IT expert but fairly new to Linux (oxymoron?). I have some experience with DSL, but Puppy seemed to be more newbie-friendly and have almost as light of a memory footprint. Also, I figured it would be the best flavor to start with since that's what the Norhtec guys used. When moving data from flash drive to the CF card, it fills up the RAM and the system freezes. Everytime I reboot, I have to use a PS/2 keyboard to run the keyboard/mouse setup wizard to re-setup my usb wireless keyboard & mouse. To give you an idea about speed, it takes 30 seconds or so for Firefox to open up. On the bright side, booting is lightening fast. It was fairly easy to get Puppy installed to a CF card. There is a setup wizard for almost everything, and the PupGet package installer is very handy.

Bottom line: I'm happy with the investment. As soon as I fix the memory and keyboard bug, I'll have no gripes about it. I'm guessing there is a way to use a usb flash drive as expanded RAM, and if so, I thnk that may minimize the speed issue as well.
